Joy In Work: Unlocking the possibilities for individual & business
achievement.
|
|
Are you a business work group that
starts each work day with a sense of purpose, meaning, and clear focus?
Do you get up in the morning, awake and alive, ready for all that
your life and work have to offer?
|
- Would you like to
expand your capacity to learn and perform?
- Would you like to add balance
and increase well-being in your work life?
- Is conflict disrupting
your ability to move forward?
- Would you like to add
creativity, clarity, focus and momentum to your work?
|
|
Joy In Work unlocks powerful potential and
productivity at work. Unlocking the possibilities for individual
& business achievement relies on the practice of specific
“disciplines” at work.
Joy In Work is a quality of work—a quality of delight,
deep satisfaction and well-being. It is a pleasure that flavors
our experience of work. It provides the juice—the “oil” for the gears—for
the best work we can do. Joy In Work is the feeling that comes when we are
fully engaged in our work. These days we recognize that vision and purpose
and focused action are essential to our success. Business, professional,
and personal life thrives in the world of real possibility, creativity,
and innovation. Growth and development for organizations of all sizes, and
for individuals, requires a certain kind of balance, a certain kind of
well-being.
How can we create the conditions for healthy growth and
development?
|
|
We may need to get out of our way and to abandon the
habits of mind and action that impede our progress and breakthrough to
higher levels of quality in our work. We may need to develop new
kinds of disciplines and practices in our workplaces that will support and
encourage creativity, innovation, and growth.
Engagement in our work is possible when our work, even
the humblest daily task, is an expression of our vision and
purpose. When meaning is present in our work, Joy In Work will be
there, too. We experience Joy In Work when we are whole-hearted about our
work. We are focused, undistracted, and moving forward without a great
deal of effort.
You
might feel as if you are moving faster and faster, working longer and
harder, but achieving less. Some things might be working very well, and
some things not so well at all anymore.
|
Coaching may
help you with the level of support you need to make your work more
successful and creative.
|
|
Are you a business or
agency work group trying to respond to frequent change in a fast-paced
workplace? Would you like to find a way to learn and work together
and accelerate your results?
|
- Maybe you are worried
about lagging productivity. Are you clear about your purpose? Are you
creating the future you want with every talent and resource available to
you? Are your costs rising and your profits dwindling?
- Some people might be
pulling together, and some pulling against each other. Is conflict and
misunderstanding draining away your time and energy? Do problems get
solved quickly or ignored with hopes they’ll go away? Do you keep
thinking that if only people had communication skills, everything would
be OK?
- Some of the systems
that you use to get your work done—to keep your life moving—seem to be
working just fine, and some seem to be broken or missing pieces. Are you
using the clearest, simplest ways that work for you to achieve your
goals? Are you able to get work done during work time and enjoy time
with your family, friends, and community?
|
|
There may be more than one thing that makes your work
and workplace feel “out of whack”, unbalanced, stuck, or lacking in
energy, meaning, and purpose.
|
|
You CAN achieve Joy
In Work—a work and personal life that is balanced and fulfilling,
purposeful and productive. It is possible to achieve work with
purpose, meaning, joy, and success. To be able to achieve results and
enjoy your work—to have a sense of balance, control, satisfaction, and
prosperity. It really is possible to solve problems and create the kind of
relationships you want. It really is possible to be in control of your
work life and to be able to do everything you want and do it well. You can
imagine and create your own future and actively involve yourself in that
future. Even in the midst of major shifts and changes, life changes and
transitions, business cycles and recessions, job loss and down-sizing, it
is possible to maintain a sense of balance, self-control, and well-being.
How will you do it?
|
|
Are you thinking you need
training—coaching—consulting—strategic planning? Well, the first step is
not to choose a method or even a particular tool.
|
- The first
step is to get clear about the present, to get real about what is
happening right now. You focus on your strengths, values,
priorities, talents, and resources. You also focus on the forces that
impact your work group or business externally. What is working and what
is not working? What vision and dreams are you fulfilling and what is
unfulfilled? What goals are you achieving and what have you put on the
shelf? What is most important to you as an individual? To your work
group? To your organization or community?
- The next
question to ask is: What do you want? Where and how do you want
to spend your time and energy? Identify how what you want
differs from what you currently have and what you are currently
doing. Notice the themes and the perspectives that emerge from
the conversation.
- Consider
this a chance to engage in a very creative process. It can be a
lot of fun, and even when serious work, it will generate a lot of
energy. You will begin to create and use strategies that will be more
successful for you. You’ll begin to make new choices. Your priorities
will come into clear focus.
|
|
Together, we can help you develop a plan
of action and the structures and processes to get the results you want and
need. Whether you are an individual, a work group, or a business
of any size, you will learn to imagine the work life you want, the results
you want, and get actively involved in creating it. You can develop an
action plan that moves you in the direction of your priorities, working
according to your values and principles, rather than being driven by any
external force or circumstance.
|
- Does that
sound difficult? This process of working together doesn’t have
to be difficult, stressful, or take years to figure out. In fact, this
process can be fun, enlightening, energizing, and exciting. It can be
faster than many other approaches to change, whether personal,
professional, or organizational.
- Does this
sound impractical? Joy In Work is achieved, not by dreaming and
scheming, not by esoteric magic or wishful thinking, but through
tried and tested
methods of whole-person and
whole systems approaches to change and development.
